FRAME TOOLS:
Dropout Square; a great tool for the survey of the rear triangle and forks to see how symmetrical the dropouts in comparison to the frame structure itself. The tool adapts to 9mm, 100 mm wide forks, 135, 140 and 150mm rear triangles/swing arms.Allows the mechanic to shim the wheel to the exact center of that frame section. $129

Sight“ Align; a set of 4 tool steel bars that become dropout and bottom bracket standards.
The Sight-Align allows the mechanic to survey the frame using the dropouts as the plane of reference. This method is 140 times more accurate and the correct start for a finished frame. The mechanic measures off the ends of the centered bars, back to the frame in a sequential manner described in the instructions to determine frame trueness in both X and Y off the center line in reference to the simulated road plane.
Even the bottom bracket is measured for square and parallel as well as its ends from the center line.
The kit contains: 4 standards, one bb calibration tool, a pair of frame clamps and exacting instructions.

TOOL RENTAL PLANS;  Since ˜07.  I realize not every one can afford to purchase these tools- that is understandable “ we are not in a bustling economy for working people. If I did not make them, I would not be able to buy them either.  ( Nor would I be on a decent bike  riding unbelievable trails! I have a hunch that once you use the tools you will see their life long benefit and figure out a way to keep them    ( or not).  Many guys chip in with their buddies, many buy them and start charging their buddies to pay them off. Several riders bought them with plans on setting up a booth at their local flea market to tune wheels. To rent any tool, pls pay for it in advance, use it in good health,  then send it back, undamaged, during its rental period ( or some where close)  for reimbursement.  Rental cost will go towards purchase.

The Freehub BUDDY, the Freehub Disassembly tool and DRUMSTIX;
each can be rented for $7 a week end, or $10 a week. Try it before you buy it. When renting the FHB, and or the FHD dissassembly tool,I would recommend buying a dust shield of choice, and a small soup. (enough for 3-5 applications )
The R.O.C-TECH is  $15 a week end, $20 a week, add $4 for the DRUMSTIX.
The R2.O.C.-TECH and the R.O.C2.-TECH are each $20 a week end and $27 a week. Add $4 for the DRUMSTIX.

GNU STANDARD- the world's easiest and  most accurate wheel stand
Designed for wheel builders it is a dream come true.

This unique stand will survey rims and rotors using dial indicators for the very fast and accurate truing of complete wheels, rims and rotors.
The left lateral gauge slides up and down the leg to serve both rim and rotors.
The bottom gauge surveys rims radially and is adjustable laterally for various dishing and vertically for 26 and 29/700c rims. Using two gauges on the rim allows the mechanic to adjust the correct spoke each time for wobble and hop simultaneously.     The much stronger wheel is tuned as each spoke's influence is readily seen and adjusted - every spoke is doing its job. Any variation over .008 or .02 mm is a spoke too tight or too loose. Did I mention it is fast ??? ( and relatively cheap ! )
Stand with hub adapters for 9mm,10mm,    $250
QR15 adapters and 20 mm Maxle adapters available   $24 each

3RD Hand cone wrenches:Here's pix of the prototypes for two of three 3rd hand axle wrenches coming out soon. The first two create a new way of tuning the hub's bearings- the third one is assisting for the more traditional way- wheel off bike. all are very handy. To me the most handy of them is the one that slips inside the frame, in between the cassette and frame or the hub and the fork. The tabs connect with the chain stay or fork leg keeping the axle from turning while a cone adjustment is made;  one would use it after they have repacked the wheel bearings and realize the adjustment isn't quite correct after they have re- inserted the wheel.   Rather than re- pull the wheel or put up with a bad adjustment- one would simply un-clamp the QR- make the fine tune and then button up the QR again for the final check. ( that is if people care about a fine tuned wheel- )                                            $12.50

The second puppy is magnetic and rests at the top one one leg of the popular TS-2 stand. it will not interfere with entry if a jam nut is misaligned as it will easily slide out of the way. ( a light magnet - that affects no bearings)  Once in place, this then prevents the axle rolling as one adjusts the hub bearings in the stand. Yes, this may be a new way of adjusting the bearings but it far faster in the long run.             $12.50
The third one is for the wheel- " in hand on the floor, off bike, out of stand."  With the QR out, You loosen the axle nuts on the non drive side because the bearings are too tight/ and or they are still loose from you repacking the bearings;  you slip the rod with the arms into the axle on the drive side, letting the arms slide around the 17mm axle nut.   The longer dropped side of the main body now will not let the axle nuts turn because it is held in place by the spokes, thus allowing you to adjust the bearings w/o the axle or nut on the drive side turning. Theoretically, you will be able to make that adjustment easier and more accurately w/o chasing that axle around.                                $15.50

Again, all these should allow for more fine tuned wheel bearings. ( My R.2.O.C.-TECH actually measures the bearing clearance )    A set of three........... $34

Rim ˜Rench ”a tool designed for the very utilitarian job of pulling dents out of rims.  $16.00

I trust one will find these tools to be of great benefit to the mechanic that wants to see improvements and great addition to most any tool box.

Great tools from the vertical trails of the Southern Sierras
